Scarlett Johansson backs out of ‘Rub & Tug’ trans male role

A week ago, the web swarmed at news that Johansson was given a role as trans man Dante "Tex" Gill in an up and coming film about the back rub parlor proprietor. In an elite proclamation to Out on Friday, Johansson clarified: "In light of ongoing moral inquiries raised encompassing my giving a role as Dante Tex Gill, I have chosen to consciously pull back my cooperation in the undertaking. The announcement she alludes to was one she issued soon after the kickback began, shielding the throwing by saying other cisgender on-screen characters have played trans characters before her. She refers to insights in her most recent articulation about an absence of trans portrayal in film.

The movie is set to be coordinated by Rupert Sanders, who worked with Johansson on Ghost in the Shell, which saw reaction for whitewashing the principle character.
